Free Japanese lessons with guided practice, audio, and speaking support.

Welcome! In this lesson you’ll practice a toolkit of natural ways to give examples in Japanese. Listen, repeat, then use them in short practice — quick and friendly.

Level B1: This lesson focuses on phrases for giving examples (たとえば, 例をあげると, 〜とか, 〜などです, and more). You will hear the phrases, see them in a short conversation, and practice choosing and speaking them so you can explain ideas clearly with concrete examples. This lesson is CEFR-aligned and practical for presentations, conversations, and explanations.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Recognize and use common example phrases like たとえば (Tatoeba), 〜とか (toka), and 〜などです (nado desu).
  • Choose the right level of formality when giving an example (casual とか vs. polite などです).
  • Introduce examples naturally in short spoken explanations and conversations.
Two colleagues in a meeting discussing how to explain ideas, with Japanese example phrases visible: たとえば、例をあげますね。
