Welcome to Lesson 73 — a short, friendly practice on talking about your interests. In Yak Yacker style: hear, repeat, and use these handy phrases in real talk.

Level B1: In this lesson you'll practice polite phrases for comparing interests, saying you enjoy something without claiming expertise, asking for recommendations, and saying you could talk about a topic for hours. We'll use natural spoken Japanese phrases like "___より、___のほうに興味があります。(___ yori, ___ no hō ni kyōmi ga arimasu.)" and others. This CEFR-aligned lesson is focused on real conversational use — listen, imitate, and try the speaking prompts aloud.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Use the comparison phrase "___より、___のほうに興味があります。(___ yori, ___ no hō ni kyōmi ga arimasu.)" to say what you prefer.
  • Say you enjoy something without pretending to be an expert with "専門家ではありませんが、___を楽しんでいます。(Senmonka de wa arimasen ga, ___ o tanoshinde imasu.)"
  • Ask for and give recommendations and talk at length about topics you love (for example, "___について、何かおすすめはありますか? (___ ni tsuite, nanika osusume wa arimasu ka?)").
