Rent and bills in Traditional Chinese
Rent and bills are easier to manage when you know the payment date, the amount, and where to pay. Maya has a few questions for Mr. Wang and the building staff.
Learn to ask when rent is due, check whether a transfer is possible, and discuss electricity and management fees.
Mr. Wang gives the rent date in one sentence and hangs up. Fortunately, the staff can help with the remaining questions.
By the end of this lesson
Ask when rent is due, how bills are calculated, and how to pay.
Which day of the month is rent due?
Can I pay by transfer?
How are electricity bills calculated?
I can pay at the convenience store.
Should I give you a receipt?
What are the management fees?
Scene — A quick call about rent
Maya stands near the building's management desk with her payment notices. She calls Mr. Wang to check the rent date before asking the staff about other bills.
Mr. Wang is brief on the phone. The staff member has time to explain management payments and help Maya understand her electricity notice.

Learn — Dates, fees, and payment
These six lines help you separate the rent date, payment method, and different bills. Listen first, then practice each question aloud.
Notice which questions ask for a date, an amount, or permission.

Which day of the month is rent due?
When to use it: Ask your landlord which date you should pay rent each month.
The date question stays before the payment verb, without an extra yes-or-no question particle.

Can I pay by transfer?
When to use it: Check whether a bank transfer is an accepted payment method.
Put the proposed payment method first, then ask whether it is acceptable.

How are electricity bills calculated?
When to use it: Ask how your electricity charge is worked out.
This asks about the calculation method rather than only the final amount.

I can pay at the convenience store.
When to use it: State that you can take your bill to a convenience store for payment.
This is a statement about an available option, not a request for permission.

Should I give you a receipt?
When to use it: Check whether the other person needs your payment receipt.
The speaker can leave out “I” when it is already clear who would give the receipt.

What are the management fees?
When to use it: Ask the amount charged for building management.
The amount question remains after “is” instead of moving to the beginning.
Story — One answer before hanging up
Listen as Maya checks the rent date by phone, then asks the building staff about her other payments and receipts.
The call is short, but the questions at the desk get clear answers.
