Welcome back! Today we’re stepping inside the home—politely, of course, and maybe after taking off our shoes.

Level A2: In this lesson, you’ll practice natural Taiwan Mandarin phrases for describing your home: having your own room, not having much space, rent per month, your neighborhood, building features, and looking for a new place. These are great phrases for real chats with friends, roommates, classmates, or anyone who asks, “So, where do you live?”

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Say what kind of place you live in using 我住在___ (Wǒ zhù zài ___).
  • Ask and answer about rent with 房租多少? (Fángzū duōshǎo?) and 房租一個月___ (Fángzū yí ge yuè ___).
  • Describe your neighborhood and building with 我住的那一區___ (Wǒ zhù de nà yī qū ___) and 我住的大樓有___ (Wǒ zhù de dàlóu yǒu ___).
  • Explain your living situation, like 我有自己的房間。 (Wǒ yǒu zìjǐ de fángjiān.) or 我在找新的地方住。 (Wǒ zài zhǎo xīn de dìfāng zhù.)
A learner looks around a small but bright Taiwan apartment while practicing Traditional Chinese phrases about rooms, rent, and neighborhood life. The mood is warm and practical.
