Free traditional Chinese lessons with Taiwan Mandarin audio and speaking practice.

Welcome back! Lesson 124 is all about those tiny office chats that make work feel more human—without accidentally starting a three-hour meeting.

Level B1: In this lesson, you’ll practice friendly coworker small talk for busy days, weekends, lunch, coffee runs, and after-work plans. You’ll also learn how to ask for local food tips and say you’re still getting used to something at work. Very useful for Taiwan offices, shared workspaces, and any place where coffee mysteriously improves communication.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Ask natural coworker questions about the day, weekend, lunch, and after-work plans.
  • Respond briefly when work is busy using 今天很忙,不過還算順利 (Jīntiān hěn máng, búguò hái suàn shùnlì).
  • Offer to pick something up with 我要去買咖啡,你要我幫你帶什麼嗎? (Wǒ yào qù mǎi kāfēi, nǐ yào wǒ bāng nǐ dài shénme ma?)
  • Use B1-level small talk to sound warm, casual, and not too personal with coworkers.
