Emergencies are stressful in any language, so today we’ll keep the Mandarin short and practical. Think of these as phrases you hope you won’t need—but you’ll be glad to have.

Level A2: In this lesson, you’ll practice urgent Taiwan Mandarin phrases for accidents, pain, bleeding, missing things, and getting an ambulance. You’ll learn how to say 先冷靜一下 (Xiān lěngjìng yíxià), 現在馬上出去! (Xiànzài mǎshàng chūqù!), and 我需要救護車 (Wǒ xūyào jiùhùchē) clearly when time matters. No drama from the yak—just calm, useful speaking practice.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Use A2 emergency phrases like 發生事故了 (Fāshēng shìgù le) to report that something happened.
  • Warn someone quickly with 不要碰它 (Bùyào pèng tā) and 現在馬上出去! (Xiànzài mǎshàng chūqù!).
  • Describe injuries using 這裡會痛 (Zhèlǐ huì tòng), 我在流血 (Wǒ zài liúxiě), and 我的___動不了 (Wǒ de ___ dòng bù liǎo).

Xiān lěngjìng yíxià.

Stay calm.

Meaning: 先冷靜一下 (Xiān lěngjìng yíxià) means “Stay calm” or “Calm down first.” It sounds caring and practical, not too harsh.

When to use: Use it when someone is scared, panicking, or speaking too fast during an urgent situation.

Xiān lěngjìng yíxià, wǒmen jiào jiùhùchē.

When to use: Use it to tell someone to leave a risky place immediately, like a fire, smoke, gas smell, or unsafe area.

Tip: This is an urgent command, so use it only when safety matters. For normal leaving, don’t use this strong tone.

有煙!現在馬上出去!
