Making an appointment in Traditional Chinese
At Dr. Chen's clinic, you need a follow-up appointment for Thursday.
Learn to ask about openings and available times, choose a day, check in, and tell the clinic you will arrive late.
A-Li also asks to make an appointment. The clinic visit is ordinary, and the fortune slip stays unexplained; his soy milk at Banyan Breakfast is still unfinished.

Scene — a follow-up visit
At Dr. Chen's clinic in Da'an, Maya calls to arrange her Thursday follow-up. The receptionist checks the schedule and offers an available time.
A-Li is nearby and asks about booking too. The fortune slip stays a mystery, and his soy milk back at Banyan Breakfast is still unfinished.

These six lines take you from asking for an appointment to checking in. First ask whether there are openings, then ask which time slots are available.
Use the final line to tell the clinic you will arrive a little late.

I'd like to make an appointment.
When to use it: Use this to start booking an appointment.
想 before an action expresses what you would like to do.
請問下週還有空檔嗎？
Are there openings next week?
When to use it: Ask a clinic whether it has any appointment openings next week.
嗎 turns this into a yes-or-no question.
請問有哪些時段可以約？
What time slots can I book?
When to use it: Ask which appointment times are available.
哪些 asks which options; the question word stays in place.
那我約禮拜四，謝謝
Then I'll take Thursday, thanks.
When to use it: Use this to choose Thursday when the clinic offers a time that day.
那 links your choice to what was just offered.
我有預約，來報到
I have an appointment; I'm here to check in.
When to use it: Say this when you arrive for an appointment.
來報到 means arriving and checking in.
我會晚一點到
I'll be a little late.
When to use it: Tell someone you will arrive a little later than planned.
晚一點 means a little later.
Say it: 一 has a fourth tone before the third-tone 點.

Maya calls Dr. Chen's clinic to arrange her Thursday follow-up. Listen as she asks about available times and later checks in.
A-Li is nearby and wants an appointment too.
Maya您好，我想預約。請問下週還有空檔嗎？Hello, I'd like to make an appointment. Are there openings next week?- Clinic staff有，禮拜四下午兩點還有空。Yes, there's still an opening Thursday at two in the afternoon.

- On Thursday, Maya calls the clinic before heading over.
- Maya我會晚一點到。I'll be a little late.
- Clinic staff好喔，路上小心。Okay, take care on the way.
- Maya arrives at the clinic a little later.
- Maya我有預約，來報到。I have an appointment; I'm here to check in.
