Traditional Chinese - Follow-Up Questions

Lesson 27 of 152

A lively Taiwan Mandarin lesson scene in Traditional Chinese about follow-up questions, with two friends chatting over tea in a bright Taipei café.

Goal: Keep the story going with warm, curious questions.

Free traditional Chinese lessons with Taiwan Mandarin audio and speaking practice.

Today you get a conversation superpower: asking one more good question. Not nosy—just nicely curious.

Level A2: this lesson helps you follow a story instead of letting it end too soon. You’ll practice asking about time, order, feelings, reasons, examples, and details with phrases like 持續了多久? (Chíxù le duōjiǔ?) and 可以講具體一點嗎? (Kěyǐ jiǎng jùtǐ yìdiǎn ma?). Think of it as giving your Mandarin conversations a friendly little engine—yak yak, but useful.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Ask natural A2 follow-up questions after someone shares an experience.
  • Ask about duration with 持續了多久? (Chíxù le duōjiǔ?) and frequency with 這種事多久發生一次? (Zhè zhǒng shì duōjiǔ fāshēng yí cì?).
  • Ask for examples and clearer details using 比如說? (Bǐrú shuō?) and 可以講具體一點嗎? (Kěyǐ jiǎng jùtǐ yìdiǎn ma?).
  • Check your understanding politely with 我這樣理解對嗎? (Wǒ zhèyàng lǐjiě duì ma?).
Traditional Chinese phrases for Taiwan Mandarin follow-up questions appear beside a notebook, bubble tea, and a phone recording practice screen.
