Free traditional Chinese lessons with Taiwan Mandarin audio and speaking practice.

Welcome back! Today’s lesson is all about sounding friendly, polite, and easy to talk to—very useful when you need help, miss something, or bump into someone by accident.

Level A1: You’ll practice everyday Taiwan Mandarin politeness phrases like 謝謝 (Xièxie), 不好意思 (Bù hǎoyìsi), 對不起 (Duìbuqǐ), and 沒關係 (Méi guānxi). You’ll also learn how to ask nicely with 請___ (Qǐng ___) and 可以請你___嗎? (Kěyǐ qǐng nǐ ___ ma?). Small phrases, big good vibes—Yak Yacker approves.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Use basic A1 politeness phrases for thanks, apologies, and reassurance.
  • Ask for help or repetition politely with 請幫我 (Qǐng bāng wǒ) and 可以請你再說一次嗎? (Kěyǐ qǐng nǐ zài shuō yí cì ma?).
  • Let someone go first or proceed using 請 (Qǐng) and 你先請 (Nǐ xiān qǐng).
  • Soften a refusal with 不好意思,我沒辦法 (Bù hǎoyìsi, wǒ méi bànfǎ).
A beginner learner practicing Traditional Chinese Taiwan Mandarin phrases like thank you, excuse me, and sorry in a cozy café setting.
