Traditional Chinese - Travel Stories

Lesson 65 of 152

A traveler with a backpack looks at a map near a train station, with Traditional Chinese signs around them. The scene introduces a Taiwan Mandarin lesson about sharing travel experiences.

Goal: Tell what happened, what surprised you, and what you’ll do next time.

Welcome to lesson 65! Today we’re packing a tiny suitcase full of travel-story phrases—no passport stress included.

Level B1: In this lesson, you’ll practice telling a short travel experience in Taiwan Mandarin: when a trip didn’t go as planned, what happened on the way, what was better or harder than expected, who you met, what photos you took, and what you’d change next time. These phrases help you sound more natural when a friend asks, “How was your trip?”

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Explain that a trip did not go as planned using 這趟旅行沒有照原本計畫走。 (Zhè tàng lǚxíng méiyǒu zhào yuánběn jìhuà zǒu.)
  • Introduce an event in a travel story with 去的路上,發生了___。 (Qù de lùshàng, fāshēng le ___.)
  • Compare expectations with reality using 比我想像中還___。 (Bǐ wǒ xiǎngxiàng zhōng hái ___.)
  • Describe people, photos, future plans, and a memorable moment from a trip.
Two friends sit in a cozy café in Taiwan, looking through travel photos on a phone. Traditional Chinese captions highlight the Taiwan Mandarin topic of telling what happened on a trip.

Ready? Let's go!
