Free traditional Chinese lessons with Taiwan Mandarin audio and speaking practice.

Welcome back! Today we’re stepping into two very Taiwan moments: customizing a drink and answering checkout questions without freezing like a cup of full-ice tea.

Level A1: In this lesson, you’ll practice Taiwan-specific phrases for drink shops, takeout, paying, and receipts. You’ll say options like 少冰 (Shǎo bīng), 去冰 (Qù bīng), 微糖 (Wēi táng), and 半糖 (Bàn táng), plus quick checkout lines like 發票要存載具 (Fāpiào yào cún zàijù). Tiny phrases, big local power.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • At A1, order Taiwan drinks with ice choices like 少冰 (Shǎo bīng) and 去冰 (Qù bīng).
  • Choose sweetness levels using 微糖 (Wēi táng) and 半糖 (Bàn táng).
  • Ask for practical takeout needs like 不要吸管 (Bú yào xīguǎn), 醬料另外放 (Jiàngliào lìngwài fàng), and 幫我打包 (Bāng wǒ dǎbāo).
  • Handle paying and receipt questions with 分開結帳 (Fēnkāi jiézhàng), 一起付 (Yìqǐ fù), 發票要存載具 (Fāpiào yào cún zàijù), and 統編 (tǒngbiān) phrases.
