Traditional Chinese - Public Transport

Lesson 109 of 152

A bright Taiwan bus stop scene with passengers checking route signs, using Traditional Chinese and Taiwan Mandarin for public transport phrases.

Goal: Ride, tap, ask, and get off without panic.

Free traditional Chinese lessons with Taiwan Mandarin audio and speaking practice.

Welcome aboard! Today we’ll practice the little phrases that make buses, trains, and ticket machines feel much less mysterious.

Think of this as your friendly “don’t miss your stop” kit—Yak Yacker promises not to honk unless absolutely necessary.

Level A2: In this lesson, you’ll practice useful Taiwan Mandarin phrases for getting around by public transport. You’ll learn how to say where you need to get off, ask about tapping your card, check whether you can buy a ticket, ask if a seat is free, and recover gracefully if you missed your stop. Very practical, very real-life, and hopefully less sweaty than running after a bus.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Say where you need to get off using 我要在___下車。 (Wǒ yào zài ___ xiàchē.)
  • Ask polite transport questions like 上下車都要刷卡嗎? (Shàng xià chē dōu yào shuākǎ ma?) and 請問哪裡可以買票? (Qǐngwèn nǎlǐ kěyǐ mǎi piào?)
  • Handle small travel problems with phrases like 我坐過站了。 (Wǒ zuò guò zhàn le.) and 這台售票機不能用。 (Zhè tái shòupiàojī bù néng yòng.)
