Mr. Wang's lease form is on Maya's table, and it needs three signatures. Yi-Jun comes over with a handful of pens and sits down to help.

These lines fit a lease, a long meeting, or a friend who is stuck. The fortune slip stays in the till; nobody solves it today.

Scene — the lease form
Maya's apartment above the scooter shop is quiet this morning. The lease form lies open on the table, with three signature lines still blank.
Yi-Jun has just arrived with extra pens. Mr. Wang will come later. Nobody mentions the fortune slip, and A-Li's soy milk is not here to finish.
Learn — share the effort
Listen to six lines for sharing the work and backing someone up. Notice 吧 on a suggestion and 得 before a comment on how well someone did.
Say each line out loud, then try it when a friend is stuck.

Let's work on it together.
When to use it: Use this to invite someone to solve a problem with you.
吧 softens a suggestion so it sounds like a shared plan, not an order.
Say it: 一 before 起 is pronounced yì.
每個人都會犯錯
Everyone makes mistakes.
When to use it: Use this when someone is upset about a small error.
都 after 每個人 means this is true for all people, not just one.
你已經盡力了
You've done your best.
When to use it: Use this to recognize effort when the result is still messy.
已經…了 shows they have already put in the effort; this line affirms what they have done.
需要的話我可以幫忙
I can help if you need.
When to use it: Offer help without pushing the other person to accept.
的話 after 需要 means if you need it, and the help stays optional.
我會陪著你
I'll be with you.
When to use it: Promise to stay beside someone through a hard moment.
著 after 陪 marks staying with them as an ongoing state, not a quick visit.
Say it: 著 after the verb is a light neutral tone.
你做得很不錯
You're doing quite well.
When to use it: Praise how someone is handling a task right now.
得 after the verb introduces how well the action is going.
Say it: 不 in 不錯 changes before a fourth-tone syllable.
Story — three signatures
Maya and Yi-Jun sit with the lease form. It needs three signatures, and Yi-Jun has brought the pens.
Listen for how they share the work and keep each other going.
- Saturday morning at Maya's apartment. The lease form is open, and Yi-Jun has just walked in with extra pens.
Yi-Jun我帶了幾支筆過來。I brought a few pens over.
Maya這個要簽名嗎？Does this need a signature?- Yi-Jun對，要三個簽名。Yes, it needs three signatures.
- Maya我剛剛填錯一欄。I just filled one box wrong.
- Yi-Jun你不用一個人撐著。You don't have to carry it alone.
- Yi-Jun每個人都會犯錯。Everyone makes mistakes.
- Maya可是我還是有點緊張。But I'm still a bit nervous.
- Yi-Jun你已經盡力了。You've done your best.
- Maya那這一欄怎麼填？Then how do I fill this box?
- Yi-Jun我們一起想辦法吧。Let's work on it together.
- Maya好喔。Okay.
- Yi-Jun需要的話我可以幫忙。I can help if you need.
- Maya謝謝你。Thank you.
- Yi-Jun你做得很不錯。You're doing quite well.
- Maya王先生什麼時候來？When is Mr. Wang coming?
- Yi-Jun他說下午會過來。He said he'll come this afternoon.
- Maya那他來的時候呢？Then what about when he comes?
- Yi-Jun我會陪著你。I'll be with you.
