Traditional Chinese - Food Preferences

Lesson 62 of 152

A bright Taiwan night-market food stall scene with Traditional Chinese signs, showing friends discussing food preferences in Taiwan Mandarin. Steam rises from snacks as people point at dishes and ask about ingredients.

Goal: Say what you love, avoid, and usually eat

Free traditional Chinese lessons with Taiwan Mandarin audio and speaking practice.

Today we’re talking about food opinions—the delicious, the “hmm, not for me,” and the “please tell me what’s inside.” Very useful if your stomach has strong opinions.

Level A2: In this lesson, you’ll practice saying what food you like, what you don’t really like, what you can’t eat, and what you usually eat for meals. You’ll also learn practical questions like 裡面有___嗎? (Lǐmiàn yǒu ___ ma?) and 你___通常吃什麼? (Nǐ ___ tōngcháng chī shénme?) so you can handle menus and food chats in Taiwan with more confidence.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Say food preferences with 我喜歡吃___的食物。 (Wǒ xǐhuān chī ___ de shíwù。)
  • Politely say dislikes or limits using 我不太喜歡___。 (Wǒ bù tài xǐhuān ___.) and 我不能吃___。 (Wǒ bù néng chī ___.)
  • Ask about favorites and ingredients with 你最喜歡吃什麼? (Nǐ zuì xǐhuān chī shénme?) and 裡面有___嗎? (Lǐmiàn yǒu ___ ma?)
  • Talk about usual meals at A2 using 我通常___會吃___。 (Wǒ tōngcháng ___ huì chī ___.)
A cozy café table in Taiwan with menus in Traditional Chinese, tea, toast, and dumplings for a Taiwan Mandarin lesson on food preferences. The scene suggests choosing what to eat and politely saying likes or dislikes.
