These six chunks help you move from a general idea to a specific example, then make the connection clear for your listener.

Learn each one as a useful piece, not as a word-for-word puzzle.

  1. Alex points toward the schedule board while saying the first concrete example to Justin.

    For example, ___.

    When to use it: Use this to introduce one concrete case that supports your point.

    The comma creates a small pause before the example, but learn the whole chunk together.

    Say it: Por ejemplo sounds like por eh-HEM-ploh.

  2. Alex offers to give Justin an example with an open explaining gesture.

    Te doy un ejemplo

    Let me give you an example.

    When to use it: Say this when you want to offer a specific example yourself.

    Te doy literally means I give you, but this chunk naturally introduces an example.

    Say it: Doy rhymes loosely with boy, with a Spanish d sound.

  3. Alex indicates one particular flexible option on the schedule board while Justin watches.

    Un ejemplo es ___

    One example is ___.

    When to use it: Use this to name one example after making a broader statement.

    The noun ejemplo is masculine, so it uses un in this phrase.

    Say it: Ejemplo begins with a strong Spanish eh sound, not an English j sound.

    Things like ___.

    When to use it: Use this to mention examples of a type of thing or activity.

    Cosas is plural, so this chunk points to things rather than one single case.
