Welcome to Lesson 50 — a cozy look at talking about home! This short lesson helps you describe where you live, who you live with, and whether you rent or own. Have fun — imagine a little apartment tour as you learn.

Level A2: In this lesson you'll practice everyday phrases to say who you live with, describe your home (house or apartment, number of rooms, floor), and explain renting, owning, or temporary living. This CEFR-aligned set focuses on short, useful sentences you can use right away in conversation.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Use simple phrases to say who you live with and whether you live alone.
  • Ask and answer whether someone lives in a house or apartment and say which floor or how many rooms.
  • Say if you rent or own your home and describe how far or how long you've lived there.

When to use: Use this to say what important place is close to your home (school, work, park).

When to use: Say how far something is using time or distance: minutes, kilometers, etc.

When to use: Use this to describe how many rooms or bedrooms a home has.

Meaning: It's on the ___ floor.

When to use: Say which floor an apartment is on (first, second, third, etc.).

When to use: Use this to say when you started living in your current home (hace + time).

Tip: Put the time after 'hace' (for example: 'hace dos años').

I moved here three months ago because I got a job.

When to use: Say what you rent: an apartment, a room, or a house.

When to use: Use this to say you own your home; choose 'dueño' or 'dueña' to match your gender identity if you wish.
