1. Reading + Listening Practice

Hear core phrases, repeat aloud.

Ya voy

I’m coming.

Meaning: I’m coming.

When to use: Used when someone is waiting for you or calling you; a quick reply meaning you are on your way or leaving now.

Tip: Don't translate word-for-word as 'I already go.' It functions like 'I'm coming' or 'on my way.'

¿Puedes bajar? — Ya voy.
Can you come down? — I'm coming.
La cena está lista. — Ya voy.
Dinner's ready. — I'm coming.

Voy en camino.

I’m on my way.

Meaning: I’m on my way.

When to use: Common for coordinating meetups; use when you are traveling toward the meeting place.

No te vayas, voy en camino.
Don't leave, I'm on my way.
Voy en camino, tomo el autobús ahora.
I'm on my way; I'm taking the bus now.

Estoy llegando.

I’m almost there.

Meaning: I’m almost there.

When to use: Literally 'I’m arriving'; often used when arrival is very soon and you want to reassure the other person.

Tip: Learners sometimes mix this with 'Estoy por llegar.' Use 'Estoy llegando' when you're actively arriving now.

Espera un momento, estoy llegando.
Wait a moment, I'm almost there.
Estoy llegando, ya veo la puerta.
I'm arriving; I can already see the door.

Estoy por llegar.

I’m about to arrive.

Meaning: I’m about to arrive.

When to use: A clear way to say you are very close and will arrive in just a minute.

Estoy por llegar, salgo del edificio en dos minutos.
I'm about to arrive; I'll leave the building in two minutes.
No abras la puerta todavía, estoy por llegar.
