Scene — the loft, then the bakery

Jonas and Priya sit at a long desk in the co-working loft by the canal. He wants one clear example of the upload bug.

Priya already has her phone in her hand. Later they stop at Bäckerei Krause, where Anton still has not touched his Milchkaffee.

Jonas and Priya sit at the shared desk in the canal-side loft, beginning to discuss the upload problem.

Six lines help you name an example, give one, and point to a case.

You'll use them with Jonas at work and with Anton at the bakery.

  1. Jonas opens his palm toward the empty chair, inviting Priya to demonstrate the problem.

    When to use it: Use this to name one case after you make a point.

    Put the case in after Beispiel, with no extra verb.

    Say it: Beispiel puts the stress on the first syllable.

  2. Priya looks toward Jonas with her phone in hand, ready to give an example.

    Ein gutes Beispiel ist ___.

    A good example is ___

    When to use it: Use this when you pick one strong case to name.

    Gutes stays with Beispiel as one piece.

  3. Priya leans across the desk toward Jonas, preparing to demonstrate the upload.

    Ich gebe dir mal ein Beispiel.

    Let me give you an example

    When to use it: Say this just before you give a teammate an example.

    Dir is for a teammate like Jonas, not for a stranger.

  4. Priya gestures toward the laptop as she identifies the upload as her example.

    Nimm zum Beispiel den Upload.

    Take the upload, for example

    When to use it: Use this to point to one concrete case at work.

    Den Upload is the case you point to.

    Say it: Upload puts the stress on the first syllable.

  5. Priya holds out her phone with a large image only partly uploaded on the screen.

    So Sachen wie große Fotos.

    Things like big photos

    When to use it: Use this to name the kind of thing you mean.

    Große stays with Fotos as one piece.

    Say it: In große, ö is said with rounded lips.

  6. Priya turns the laptop toward Jonas to connect the example to their app.

    Wie bei unserer App.

    Like with our app

    When to use it: Use this to tie the example back to your own work.

    After bei, use unserer with App, not unsere.
