By the end, you will order a coffee with milk or a cappuccino, say how you want it, and pick a size.

Anton sits at the corner table with two chairs. His Milchkaffee is still full, and he has not touched it.

Priya stands at the counter while Renate works by the coffee machine and Anton sits beside his untouched Milchkaffee.

Learn — milk, sugar, and size

Six short lines cover a coffee with milk, a cappuccino, oat milk, no sugar, and large or small.

You'll also pick a small cup at the counter.

  1. Priya turns toward Renate at the counter to order a coffee with milk.

    Ein Milchkaffee, bitte.

Learn it as one piece to ask for oat milk.

Say it: Hafermilch puts the stress on the first syllable.

  4. Priya makes a gentle no-sugar gesture beside the sugar bowl.

    Ohne Zucker, bitte.

    No sugar, please.

When to use it: Add this when you do not want sugar in the drink.
