Level B1: In this lesson (89) you'll practice four useful transition phrases: Tatsächlich..., Eigentlich..., Um mal das Thema zu wechseln..., and Zurück zu ___.... These help you strengthen a point, correct gently, change the subject, or return to a previous topic. The lesson is CEFR-aligned and focused on real conversational use.

When to use: Natural for gentle correction or clarification; tone depends strongly on context.

Tip: Avoid using this too bluntly—pair it with a soft tone when correcting someone.

Actually, I wanted to finish the document yesterday.
Eigentlich ist der Zug erst um zehn Uhr.
Actually, the train is at ten o'clock.

When to use: Clear topic-change signal; “mal” makes it more spoken and less formal.

Going back to ___, ...

Meaning: Going back to ___, ...

When to use: Return to a previous topic or point in conversation. Remember that if you add an article, use the dative form after 'zu'.

Tip: If you include an article after 'zu', adjust it to dative (e.g., zu dem → zum, zu der → zur).

Zurück zu dem Budget, wir brauchen noch genaue Zahlen.
Going back to the budget, we still need exact numbers.
