Ready to plan something in German? This short lesson helps you suggest places and times, accept or postpone, and confirm details. Have fun — a little Yak Yack never hurt a plan!

Level A2: In this lesson you'll practice useful phrases for making plans: suggesting meeting places, confirming times, accepting or postponing, and letting someone know you'll reply. CEFR-aligned and practical—by the end you'll be able to suggest "Können wir uns irgendwo in der Nähe von ___ treffen?" and confirm with "Ich bin um ___ da."

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Use simple phrases to suggest a meeting place and time.
  • Confirm, accept, or postpone plans politely in everyday situations.
  • Practice saying these phrases out loud (A2 speaking practice).

Meaning: I'll be there at ___.

When to use: Use this to confirm the exact time you'll arrive (use with a clock time, e.g. "um 18 Uhr").

Ich bin um halb sieben da.
I'll be there at 6:30.

Können wir uns irgendwo in der Nähe von ___ treffen?

Can we meet somewhere near ___?

Meaning: Can we meet somewhere near ___?

When to use: Suggest this when you want a meeting place close to a landmark or address (use a noun after 'von').

Tip: Remember: after "von" use the correct article (dative), e.g. "von der Uni", "vom Bahnhof."
