The group chat in English

Tasha wants Ana in a group chat with Dee and Danny. She will add Ana, then Ana can send a sticker.

Ana waits. Danny sees it but does not write back. That happens a lot.

You will join a group, send a sticker, ask for a voice message, and say you will reply later.

You will also say you saw a message but did not reply.

Learn — the group chat

Six lines cover a group chat. You will add someone, send a sticker, and ask for a voice message.

You will also wait, then say you saw a message but did not reply.

  1. Tasha taps her phone as she adds Ana to the group chat.

I'll add you to the group.

I'll put you in our group chat.

When to use it: Say this when you put someone in a group chat.

I'll is I will as one piece.

Say it: I'll sounds like one short word.

  2. Ana uses her phone to send a friendly greeting and a small picture to the chat.

    Did you see my message?

Did you look at what I sent?

When to use it: Ask this when you wait and nobody writes back.

This asks if they saw the message you sent.

Say it: Did and you can link.

  3. Ana checks her phone after the chat shows her picture has been seen and asks about it.

    I'll send a sticker.

I'll send a little picture in the chat.

When to use it: Say this when you send a little picture, not words.

Here, a sticker is a little picture in a chat.

  4. Danny comes in from the sidewalk with his phone, focused on the opened chat rather than Ana.

Can you send a voice message?

Can you talk in the chat instead of typing?

When to use it: Ask this when talking is easier than typing.

A voice message is talk you send in the chat.

  5. Tasha asks Danny to use a voice message, and Danny agrees to reply later.

    I'll reply later.

I'll write back in a while.

When to use it: Say this when you cannot write back now.

Later means in a while, not right now.

  6. Dee checks the group chat on her phone at the counter, ready to answer later.

I saw it but didn't reply.

I opened it, but I did not write back.

When to use it: Say this when you opened a chat but did not write.

Didn't is did not as one piece.

Say it: Didn't has stress on the first part.
