Free Simplified Chinese lessons with guided practice, audio, and speaking support.

Welcome to Lesson 66 — let’s tell some stories! In this short lesson you'll hear common frames people use to talk about past experiences, repeat them, and practice with quick quizzes. Have fun — a little storytelling goes a long way.

Level B1: In this lesson you'll practice useful spoken frames for talking about past experiences (when things happened, first times, surprises, and memories). We'll focus on phrases like 我年轻的时候常常___ (wǒ niánqīng de shíhou chángcháng ___) and 我以前去过___ (wǒ yǐqián qù guo ___), then use them naturally in a short conversation. This lesson is CEFR-aligned and built to help you tell short personal stories clearly and confidently.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

  • Use B1-level sentence frames to describe past habits and single experiences.
  • Locate events in time (e.g., 那件事发生在我___的时候 (Nà jiàn shì fāshēng zài wǒ ___ de shíhou)).
  • Ask and answer Have-you-ever questions: 你___过吗? (Nǐ ___ guo ma?).
  • Tell a short story in sequence using connectors like 之后,我就___了 (Zhīhòu, wǒ jiù ___ le).
