New here? This is lesson 48 of a free 240-lesson French course.

Add me on WhatsApp in French

Inès lives two floors below Sam. She wants him on WhatsApp tonight, not tomorrow.

She will add him, then send a voice note before he even types hello.

By the end, you'll ask if someone is on the app, add them, and send a message, a voice note, or a pin.

You'll also check they got it.

By the end of this lesson

Add a friend on a chat app and send a pin.

Scene — two floors below

Sam is on the fourth-floor landing with his mustard backpack. Two floors below, Inès leans on her doorway in a denim jacket, phone already in her hand.

The stairwell is quiet. No café, no Gaspard, no window table. Just a new neighbour and a chat to open.

A quiet walk-up stairwell with Sam small on an upper landing beside a mustard backpack and Inès small at a doorway further down, phone in hand.

Learn — add me on the app

Six short lines cover the app, adding a friend, and three ways to send something.

You'll also ask if it arrived.

  1. Sam on the upper landing and Inès in a lower doorway looking up with a phone raised, facing each other across the stairs.

Learn it as one piece for a typed chat.

Say it: The en in envoie is a nasal vowel.

  4. Inès in a doorway in profile, holding a phone near the mouth as if recording a voice note.
