Bienvenue — a short, friendly lesson to practice talking about goals in French. You'll hear common goal phrases, try short exercises, then say them aloud.

Level B1: In this CEFR-aligned lesson (74) you'll practice natural ways to state goals, hopes, current projects and next steps in French. We'll use phrases like "Mon objectif principal, c'est de...", "J'espère... un jour", and "La prochaine étape, c'est de..." so you can describe both immediate plans and long-term dreams.

After this lesson you'll be able to:

When to use: Use this spoken structure to state your main personal goal; follow with an infinitive after de.

Tip: Beginners sometimes skip 'de' and say 'c'est finir...' — remember 'c'est de' + infinitive.

When to use: Use with an infinitive to express a long-term hope (un jour = someday).

J'espère voyager en Amérique du Sud un jour.

J'espère écrire un livre un jour.

J'aimerais ___ plus tard.

I'd like to ___ in the future.

Meaning: I'd like to ___ in the future.

When to use: Use with an infinitive to talk about future ambitions; 'plus tard' is common in conversation.

When to use: Use with infinitive phrases in both blanks to explain what you need to do to reach a goal.

Tip: Remember to use 'de' (or d' before a vowel) after 'besoin'.

When to use: Use this informal question with 'tu' to ask about someone's next plans or goals.

When to use: Use with a noun or field after 'à' (adjust to au/à la/aux) to say you are undecided but curious.

Tip: Don’t forget to adjust 'à' to 'au' or 'à la' depending on the noun (e.g., 'au marketing').
