A tiny bit of “why do they say it like that?”

下課 (xiàkè) literally means “class is over,” and it often gets used like “it’s break time now.” If you want to be extra clear, say 下課時間 (recess time) or 休息時間 (break time).

Also, 操場 is the classic school field. 遊樂場 leans more “playground equipment area” (slides, swings, climbing frame). Same vibe, different corner of the chaos.
